Week 2: Excavation and new "Structural fill"
What kind of animal is that?!
Excavation under way with Cecillio watching
James from GeoTech Consultants checking the soil for bearing capacity.
Ron from 5th Ave. Excavation was extremely skilled with the heavy machinery and was a lot of fun to watch. Here
you can see the lateral stratification of the soil. On the eastern part of the excavation (right in photo) we only
had to dig about three feet down to get to bearing soil, as evidenced by its grayish color; to the west, we had
to dig approximately six feet down to get to the same dense bearing sand.
The 2"-4" clean spalls (quarry rock) used for structural fill.
Finished and ready for footings!
